Over this past weekend a movie came out with one of my favorite actors, Leonardo DiCaprio, about one of the most defining books in the past century, The Great Gatsby.
I won’t tell you anything about the story so I won’t ruin it for everyone, so I’ll focus on the things that I can show you here; the baller fashion from the 1920’s. That era was considered the Golden Age for Jazz. Not the type that we know now, but more of that toe-tappin’, knee slappin’, get up and move type music. Less rhythm and blues, more rhythm and tunes.
What’s crazy is that the movie itself inspired Brooks Brothers to make a whole line dedicated to the motif of High Society, Vintage Threads, and Upscale prints that are portrayed in the movie. Here are some examples of what they put out:
You can see the whole collection here.
Now tell me those pieces aren’t dapper! From head to toe, those tailored fits do-declare some class. But I bet you’re telling yourself right now, “Ya those fits are mad fly, but what the hell? I’m not gonna be sporting those looks unless I join a yacht club. What’s the point?”
Well guess what? It’s time to turn High Society into High (Snob)riety. That’s what being a fashion forward thinker is all about. Taking things that don’t mesh and finding a way to make ’em work. Take a look at these prints, turn on our customizer, and get at it son! Be creative, be yourself, and most of all… Be GREAT.
