Lecture Hall Takeover: The Art of Public Speaking

by

As an entrepreneur and community leader, you will consistently be challenged to get in front of a crowd of people and speak.  Public speaking is an art and those artists who can capture and hold the attention of a crowd are very special.  Every person has the ability to become a great public speaker with practice and good preparation.

This week we challenge you to get in front of your class in your Apliiq rep tee and take over a lecture hall for 5 minutes to share what you’re up to this semester as part of Apliiq Campus.  It could be officially sanctioned by the professor or a rogue coup d’etat where you just jump in before class begins.  If you have business cards made or extra stickers from your rep kit, hand those out and ideally you can take over the projector and share a quick set of slides.  Be sure to practice beforehand so you know what you’re going to say.

Here’s a draft you can use to build your slide introduction.  Please copy it to your own google doc or powerpoint and be sure to add your info on slides 2 and 5.  Also edit it however you see fit, we want this to speak to your fellow students.  Let them know why you’re a rep and how you can help them make the most unique custom t shirts and other apparel this semester.

When you’ve finished, be sure to have a sheet of paper out for people to write their emails and phone numbers so you can follow up.  Don’t just give them your contact info, get theirs and touch base with them individually to ensure the conversation continues.

Have one of your classmates snap a photo of you giving your presentation and share it with the facebook group.  The best action shot submission will get a special reward from the Apliiq workshop.
