Going forward, Apliiq will dramatically reduce our use of clear poly bags as part of the order fulfillment process.  There are some limited scenarios that will still require clear mailers, but we are targeting this change to impact about 80-90% of orders Apliiq produces and fulfills. This change is part of our broader effort to reduce waste, lessen our ecological footprint, and make our operations more environmentally friendly.

Why We’re Making the Change

In the U.S. alone, approximately 35 million tons of plastic are discarded each year, with a large portion ending up in landfills or the ocean, contributing to pollution. By eliminating the individual use of clear polymailers, Apliiq aims to directly contribute to the reduction of plastic consumption. This decision not only supports the environment but also aligns with our commitment to waste reduction and lean manufacturing practices.

Commitment to Waste Reduction

Apliiq’s new policy is a conscious step towards lessening packaging waste that ultimately ends up in landfills or as ocean debris. Poly bags, which are commonly used for their durability and cost-effectiveness, are primarily made from plastic—material that can take hundreds of years to break down. By reconsidering how we package and ship our products, we’re minimizing the amount of plastic waste that is introduced into the system. For the last 5 years, Apliiq has only used 100% recycled poly bags to fulfill orders. Now, we’re taking another step towards reducing overall plastic consumption.

Through this change, we’re also encouraging our community and customers to reconsider the necessity of excess packaging in their own lives. By rethinking how we ship, we can collectively reduce the amount of single-use plastics in circulation.
